I so love weekends.
Friday night our apartment complex had a tenant appreciation party. Basically free food, raffles & awkward mingling with the neighbors. Interestingly, I randomly started chatting with two girls who were also grad students and had graduated from a Christian college in Michigan. They also went to the same church Jordan and I have been attending.
It was also nice to introduce Jordan to some of the people in my grad program (there's 4 of us in our apartment complex.)
And...Jordan won a giftcard to Nick's which is a bar in downtown. Actually, when the raffle was being called three other tickets were called before and no one claimed them. I got distracted and started talking to someone when I realized that I thought my number was being called. As I was deciding whether or not I should go up and check...they pull out Jordan's number. So I'm not sure which of us actually won the giftcard.
Saturday day Jordan and I checked out the farmers market downtown. Vendors were selling lots of yummy vegetables, fresh flowers, plants, honey, meat, and more. I didn't really need any food so I got a cup of coffee from a local vendor. I definitely want to get some fall veggies when the season starts.
Then we perused an antique mall nearby -- most of our time was spent looking at books we had read when we were younger. Jordan was a Hardy Boys fan and I read lots of the Nancy Drew books. We have both always been big readers and are always surprised by all the books we both read in elementary school.
Saturday night we had a wonderful dinner date at a local Thai restaurant. Due to the huge international population in a college town, Btown has so many fabulous international restaurants - Thai, Korean, Vietnamese, Turkish, Afgan, etc. We are hoping to branch out and try a few more of these.
Then we headed over Nicks to use the giftcard Jordan won and watch the game. IU doesn't have an awesome football team but it's still fun.
Sunday was church in the morning -- we are loving meeting people in our church and getting involved. It seems to be a great fit for us. Later in the afternoon, we drove up to Indy to have dinner (at PF Changs!) with Jordan's parents who were passing through after visiting his sister Sara in Cedarville. It's always such a fun time to see them and catch up.
Well off to starting another week -- the last week of my first rotation. I have my first presentation on Thursday -- so hoping that will go well.
