Overwhelming Grace

Overwhelming Grace. This theme just finds itself working in every corner of my life. I am so undeserving, but God has reached down to me and offered me a place in his kingdom through Christ. And if that wasn’t enough, He has been absolutely showering a multitude of blessings and grace upon my life. Not because I’m a good person but simply because He is God. And because of this my heart is filled with praise and so much joy.

Last weekend, Jordan Oakes, a God-honoring man who I have fallen in love with the past two years, honored me by asking if I share my life with him in marriage. I am beyond words with the joy, excitement and blessing it is to be engaged to a man who lives a life that showcases his commitment to Christ in his words and actions.

I pray that God’s overwhelming grace would show forth in our marriage, and that we would show overwhelming grace to one another. I pray that God would use marriage to make us more holy, that we would better reflect Him because of marriage.

I want to write more and I hopefully will soon but until then I hope you all will enjoy the story of how my man proposed to me…he’s pretty much the most awesome fiancĂ© ever.
It was our two year anniversary and Jordan just told me that we were going out and that he would pick me up at 4 . He said to wear something nice (like for a nice dinner) but also something warm (like jeans). We started driving out into the middle of the cornfields (away from any civilization) so I was little confused. We finally turned at a sign with the name of some horse stables. We had talked about going horseback riding before so he said he wanted to take me for our anniversary. We rode our horses through some lovely fields and a hilly forest area with orange leaves on the trees and on the ground.  At one point in the forest, we got off our horses and walked down a little path that led to a white tablecloth on the ground with twelve roses spread out on it. On the blanket were two small logs. Jordan handed me a rose and had me sit down on one of the logs while he started to pull out a guitar that was sitting nearby. Now, this was slightly surprising to me because Jordan doesn’t actually play the guitar. He sat down across to from me with the guitar and began to play the song Marry Me by Train. It was beautiful and so well done. Well after that I wasn’t quite sure what to do because I was like losing my mind and said something awkward like “Jordan, when did you learn how to play guitar?” Meanwhile, he pulling me up from the log as he got down on one knee and pulled out a box with an absolutely gorgeous diamond ring and asked “Will you marry me.” Of course, I said yes, all smiles and crying and we rode away into the sunset through a storm of sleet that came out of no-where. Yes it was 50 degrees and sunny and about two seconds after I had the ring on my finger that the sleet starting coming down pretty hard.

Pretty much perfect. But now, I should get some sleep as I have plans to study Calculus all day tomorrow…yay!

Blessings and Peace to you :)
