Yesterday at church, during the service we participated in the Lord's supper. I was really touched as I watched an older couple, one in a wheelchair followed by a young woman with two little girls around eight years old came to the front to partake of the supper.
It reminded me of how wonderful it is that the gospel is truly for everyone -- no matter your age, race, nationality. The picture of the Lord's table is so powerful when you think about it. When you dine with someone, it is symbolic of acceptance or equality.
We all come from different pasts and backgrounds but we are one in that Christ has redeemed us and we are his chosen people as the Church. It doesn't matter if you grew up in church or if you've spent years in prison. We are all invited to be in community with God and with one another. Its an essential part of communion that we often miss.
I thank God for the church and the community of fellowship we are blessed with as the people of God.
